I feel an obligation to honor the past and how I got where I am today. It is my own, unique, beautiful journey. I preach to my clients endlessly that your story is like no other. Well, hereβs mine.
I fell in love hard and all at once.
I picked up my first camera in 2016. It was a class I was forced to take in college, or serendipity as I like to think of it now. This photography class, the people I met and the connections made changed my life trajectory for the better.
My first gig was with Preservation Hall, a historical, one of a kind, jazz hall in New Orleans. It was an intimate space where legends came to play for a room no more than 50 people, maybe. The lighting was dim and moving around was limited. In hindsight, that place forced me to hone in on my technique and eye quick.
This photo was taken on my very first camera and is still to this day one of my favorite images.
Photographing concerts came as a no brainer. I had always loved music. Combining those two worlds just felt right. New Orleans was the perfect blend of being in the right place at the right time. I was in school for Music Business. I had countless artist friends who needed things like cover art and content for socials. I started cold emailing artists, venues, festivals anyone who had their contact info listed, I was offering to shoot for free. Just to learn.
And I learned a lot.
my sweet new orleans, how i love you so
Photographing music and live shows quickly expanded into creative sessions, which organically led to my love for storytelling and creative direction.
And then, I got my first wedding inquiry.
A whole new piece to this photography puzzle. I had no idea what I was doing.
So naturally I said yes. And I kept saying yes.
Turns out photographing concerts translates really well to wedding receptions.
So I welcomed these new experiences and started falling in love with love.
The moutains were calling
We took a trip in 2020 to visit Colorado, and I was in awe at the scenery. When we got home, I could not stop thinking about the mountains. I always felt life was too short to spend it in one place and this felt like the next move.
So in 2023, we finally said f*ck it and moved to Colorado.
And now?
I photograph weddings and elopements in Colorado and Louisiana. I get to travel often for my work, something I always dreamed of.
You could say life is pretty sweet.
