Dreamy Micro Wedding in the Woodland Mosaic at the Denver Botanic Gardens

If you are looking to say yes to forever in what feels like a real-life fairytale, the Denver Botanic Gardens might just be THE dreamy, ethereal wedding venue for you. Nestled within the heart of the gardens is the Woodland Mosaic, a hidden glass solarium surrounded by vibrant greens, tall trees, and winding stone paths. It is an unexpected pocket of magic that feels completely private, even though you’re still in the middle of the city.

As a Denver microwedding photographer, I could truly photograph weddings at the Denver Botanic Gardens every day of the year. There’s something so romantic and cinematic about the Woodland Mosaic space. The light filters through the glass walls in the most stunning way, and the surrounding greenery creates a lush, garden-chic vibe without needing to step foot in dirt. It’s nature, without the mess. Best of both worlds if you ask me.

The solarium itself has a greenhouse feel that naturally lends itself to intimate weddings and small celebrations. It seats about 40 guests indoors, and with outdoor space, can accommodate around 75 people total, though final capacity depends on your layout. If you are sticking to a tighter budget, you really do not need to supply any decor. The space is stunning all on its own. While the gardens remain open to the public, the Woodland Mosaic is roped off and tucked away in a quieter corner of the property. The staff is incredible at keeping wedding areas undisturbed, allowing you to enjoy an intimate experience without interruption. Plus! The gardens has several wedding packages they offer with food and drink options making this a great all-in-one wedding venue option in Denver. No matter if you’re planning a cozy ceremony with just your closest circle or a slightly larger gathering, the Woodland Mosaic offers flexibility and charm in equal measure.

After you say “I do” and celebrate with your favorite people, guests are welcome to explore the surrounding gardens. Which is GORGEOUS by the way. It is perfect for those guests who are not local and are visiting for the first time! Let them explore and fall in love with all of Colorado’s natural beauty. While your guests wander, it is a great time for us to slip away for 15-20 minutes for creative portraits. I love the variety this creates with your final gallery of wedding photos. You won’t just have photos inside the Woodland Mosaic, but also around the entire gardens. Some of my favorite additional areas are the international inspired gardens, water gardens, shady gardens, and the ornamental gardens. These different sections are meant to showcase all of Colorado’s different ecosystems, from dry and arid to high altitude existing plant life - there is so much to see and appreciate! Let’s just imagine it for a moment - the two of you in the warm golden light, wandering through endless florals, plants and trees and me capturing it all as you discover. Dreamy right?

The gardens are stunning year-round, but they really shine from spring through fall. Christine & Johnny’s October microwedding was filled with golden leaves, cool breezes, and the most romantic autumn skies. In contrast, late April to early May brings fresh blooms, budding greens, and the occasional surprise snow - this is Colorado, after all!
